In addition to our survey, we were interested in capturing some fox foraging behaviour on a trail camera. We set up a camera at a nearby fox den. Unfortunately, we were not able to get any footage of foxes hunting or eating. However, we are eager to share some of the fox activity we did catch on tape! The videos we have posted here are of a mated pair of foxes. The camera is focused in on the opening of a den that the pair has likely dug out. If all goes accordingly for this pair, this will be the den in which they raise their litter of pups this spring and summer. These videos are great examples of the scent marking behaviour foxes use to mark their territory. The mystery of what the fox says is also unraveled in some of the footage!
